BOCOG is looking for some smiles
Jason: Gabe, it's been a while, man. What's up?
Gabe: I'm trying to make my little niece famous. Have you heard that BOCOG is looking for smiling children's faces for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics?
Jason: No, I hadn't heard. But I bet you'll have no trouble getting your niece's face in front of the world. She's a real cutie pie.
Gabe: Yeah. But the specifications for the photo are pretty precise. So I have to make sure everything's just right. The photos must show a straight-on face shot of a smiling or laughing child under the age of 10.
Jason: Well, that's not so bad.
Gabe: Right, and the entry photos must have at least 5 million color pixels.
Jason: So will photos taken by ordinary digital cameras qualify?
Gabe: Yes.
Jason: Well, then, you're set. Your niece is going to be a super star. But, hey, I've gotta run.
Gabe: What's the rush?
Jason: I'm going to take photos of my little niece too. I can't let your niece get all the glory, you know.
it's been a while: 有一阵子没联系了。完整的形式应该是"it's certainly been a while since last time we met"。
what's up: 最近忙些什么?最近怎么样?
cutie pie: 可爱而有魅力的姑娘。注意,"sweetie pie"则是指"心地善良、热心助人的人"。
straight-on: 正对着的,正面的。
pixel: 像素。
You're set: "to be set"相当于"to be ready for whatever it is you're going to do",表示"一切准备就绪了"。
The cake is ready, the drinks are prepared, and the decorations look great. I think we're all set.
I've gotta run: 我得走了。"have gotta"或者"have got to"在这里相当于"have to"。"run"在这里表示"离开"。
what's the rush: 匆匆忙忙做什么?
